Hi Mom!

I am sure you know we live in a broken world. Even parenting is broken…

We struggle and strive to be that perfect mom that gets everything absolutely right. It puts so much pressure on us to be a perfect mom! And in case you were wondering what I think about that, we are not perfect and never will be. So where does that leave us? Frustrated and feeling inadequate.

When we see cracks in the system, we blame ourselves and think that we are not a good parent, that we will never get it right and we may give up hope. When we get discouraged we spiral down, down, down, trying harder but becoming less effective with every turn.

My name is Laurie Donahue. I have written and published 6 children’s books. Founded a publishing company, LifeSong Publishers, and KidStrength4Life Support Experience. I have been in children’s ministry most of my life and conference speaker and college teacher. But most importantly, I am a 4 time mom and 8 time grandma.

About parenting… If you are like I was… You have a lot of questions. Like…

• Give everyone a trophy so we won’t damage their self esteem
• Never spank
• Spank for everything
• Let them alone and they will decide when they grow up
• Tell them 15 times then they will do it
• They don’t listen if you don’t yell
• Let them watch screens so you can get things done

• How much screen time is ok?
• Should I feed them eat gluten or dairy?
• How much of anything is enough? Or too much?

But there is hope,

We have a model! God is the perfect parent and the Bible says that it is the kindness of the Lord which leads us to repentance. If that is how God deals with us, why would we want to deal any differently with our kids? Of course there is more, but that is where we start.

I found parenting hope that turned what I was doing on its head. It changed my life and my family’s for the better with long lasting results.
